It is very rare for a Venetian to travel without finding their city somewhere else every day. It may be in a painting in a hotel room, the name of a brand of biscuits, a toponymic tribute. In the meantime, the progressive disappearing of Venice as a living urban reality is resolved in two ways: a declaration of its death or the search for it elsewhere. Having pulled down its physical boundaries, one can believe that one is finding Venice in the many ways in which it is evoked. This documentary is about discovering how one’s roots are not simply far away but decidedly elsewhere.
